Milton chiropractor discusses: Backpack 101

9/13/2016

Here's another blog from a Milton chiropractor discussing : Backpack 101
Using a backpack that is overly heavy or where the weight is not evenly distributed while used can result in normal spinal alignment being thrown off, postural changes, and resultant muscle strains.

When choosing a backpack for your child, keep the following in mind:
  • once packed should be no more than 10-15 % of your child's weight
  • pick a light backpack with broad shoulder straps and a hip or waist strap for better weight distribution
  • Your child should be wearing their backpack using both shoulder straps and they should be adjusted so that the pack sits close to their body
