The average weight gain during pregnancy is between 25 - 35 pounds. During pregnancy, a woman's center of gravity shifts forward to the front of her pelvis, and as the baby grows in size, the woman's weight is projected even farther forward, increasing the curvature of her lower back and placing extra stress on the spine.
Studies have found that about half of all expectant mothers will develop low-back pain at some point during their pregnancies. Chiropractic care is safe during pregnancy, and many pregnant women have found that chiropractic care helps provide relief from their back pain.
