Backpack education

9/2/2018

With the school year starting in a few days, here are a few important reminders when it comes to backpacks and ensuring that your child is wearing them correctly. This is not only important for posture, but to also reduce the chance of developing pain due to backpacks being worn incorrectly for extended periods of time.

Reminders:
  • Choose a backpack with chest and waist straps to help distribute the weight of the backpack contents appropriately.
  • Pack only what is necessary. Keep in mind that backpacks should weigh no more than 10-15% of the child's body weight.
  • Ensure that your child is using the backpack properly by wearing both shoulder straps.
